This female field crescent butterfly (Phyciodes pulchellus) forages through undergrowth in the butterfly rich Cascade Siskiyou National Monument in Southern Oregon.
This is the final photo in the butterfly posts recalling the great sightings in 2019. I hope you enjoy this review and its format. #6 of 6. This photo of a Tailed Copper Butterfly (Lycaena arota) was selected because of dramatic underwing colors and how they matched the flowers off Stateline Road between Oregon and California. I also noticed how I posted mostly darker backgrounds for the butterflies so in contrast I thought a bright and cheery backdrop when the wintry weather could be dark and dreary.
